I was clearing out my email yesterday when I saw a message from Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
I had entered the contest months earlier when looking for a way to gain exposure to my book. Getting exposure has been one of the most complex parts of self-publishing. So when I came across this contest I thought, why not? Did I expect anything to come out of the contest? No. I did have a small hope that at least the cover would find its way into a finalist position because Stefanie Saw of SeventhStar Arts is absolutely amazing! I love every cover she has created so far.
Now back to the email from Next Generation Indie Book Awards. When I saw the message in my inbox and the preview showed “Congratulations” my heart sped up and my first reaction was, “No way.” Sure enough, Hunted was named a finalist in two categories, Paranormal, and Cover Design.
I am so honored to be recognized as I poured so much of my heart into this series, making sure the words on the page shined and more importantly, were well-edited. This is where I say thank you to Courtney Andersson who does my developmental editing, Lara Kennedy who does my copy editing, and Liz Gilbeau my proofreader. They help me get my books to where they need to be.
Again, thank you to everyone who continues to support me and to my family who tolerates my craziness.
