This week was a busy one. Not only did I secure a cover designer, I hired a copyeditor and opened an LLC.
Copy Editor
When I found my developmental editor, it was on Reedsy. As I mentioned in a previous blog, she was an amazing editor. She found a plot hole none of my beta readers at the time had caught. She put so much thought into her work, communicated often and timely. I can’t wait to work with her on book two.
Back to copy editing. Since I was successful with Reedsy previously, I am trying my luck with a copy editor. I am timetabled for the first week of May, which will keep me ahead of schedule. There will be an update once I see the completed copy edit.
Cover Designer
I found three cover designers with excellent samples and the work was top-notch in my opinion. What sold me on the one I chose was their past covers and their competitive pricing. The cover is slated to be worked on at the end of July. My cover reveal should be in August right when the presale goes up on Amazon.
LLC
I decided to open an LLC to keep my business and my personal assets separate. I know many people may not go this route and they wouldn’t be wrong. For me, I believe it is the right step. Especially, since I am looking to make writing a career. I may not always be self-published, but when I decide to, I will do so under an LLC.
Those are my journey updates for the week. Every step I take is to move me one step closer to becoming a full-time author.
